Whereas there were, in the course of the history of the American Colonies, persons accused of witchcraft, and
Whereas those individuals accused of witchcraft suffered several humiliations, imprisonment, trial and even execution, and
Whereas, those individuals were victims of mass hysteria; delusion; religious intolerance; political exigency; and persecution which often befell their families causing harm to innocent families for generations,
Therefore, a hereditary society shall be established and perpetuated, in order to cultivate the history and collective memory of this period of American history, now manifest formally in the reactivated sodality originally established in 1975, by the name of Son of a Witch.

The purpose of Son of a Witch (hereafter, “the Society”) shall be historical, educational, genealogical, civic, and fraternal in nature. The Society shall perpetuate the memory of those men and women who, through their suffering and degradation, contributed to the development of the American nation and culture. The lessons of intolerance learned corporately through this unique period of American history provide a reminder of how such tragedies are conceivable at any time in history. The Society shall be non-political and non-religious and its sole purpose will be to further the study of this unique period of American history, as well as gather and verify documented evidence of the genealogical history of its members. The basic principle upon which the Society is founded is one of good-will and fellowship with respect and care for those who are our comrades.
